How to connect Controller to play Mech Arena?

Mech Arena supports the following controllers:

  • Xbox One
  • Xbox Series
  • DualShock 4
  • DualSense

Any of these controllers can be connected wirelessly and via the cable.
If you would like to use a cable, it is as straightforward as plugging a USB cord into your controllers on one end and your PC on the other, and you are set.

A wireless connection requires specific steps for each family of controllers.

To pair your Xbox controller using Bluetooth, follow these steps:

1. Press Xbox on the controller to turn the controller on.

2. Hold Pair for three seconds. The Xbox button will light up and start flashing.

3. Select Start on your computer. The Start button looks like four squares.

(Depending on the operating system, the interface may look different from the one depicted below)

4. With the Start panel open in Windows 11, select Settings > Bluetooth & devices.

5. Toggle the Bluetooth option on.

6. Select Add device to find and add your Xbox controller.

To pair your PS family controller, follow these instructions:

1. Access your PC's Bluetooth settings (Press the Windows key, type "Bluetooth," and select Bluetooth & other devices from the menu)

(Depending on the operating system, the interface may look different from the one depicted below)

2. Select Add Bluetooth or other device.

3. Select Bluetooth in the pop-up window.

4. On your controller, press and hold the PS Button and Create button on the DualSence or Share button on the DualShock controller (next to the D-Pad) at the same time until the light bar under the touchpad begins to blink. Please note that the controller should be switched off.

5. On your PC, select your Wireless controller from the list of available Bluetooth devices.

Please note that in Hangar, navigation is done via the mouse. However, on the "Battle" button, you will see a small controller icon. It means that the controls in battle are done through controller inputs.

If your device doesn't connect, here are a few actions you can take to fix the issue:

  • Make sure your controller is fully charged.
  • Ensure your computer's Bluetooth is turned on. Even if your controller is turned on, it won't be able to connect to your computer if Bluetooth is turned off.
  • Make sure your computer software is compatible with your controller. To use Bluetooth to connect your Xbox or PS controller to a PC, your computer must be running the Windows 10 Anniversary Update or later.
  • Keep your controller close to your computer. Wireless controllers have a connectivity range of about 5 - 8m.
  • If you still have issues connecting wirelessly, try connecting the controller via a USB cable.

If you have other issues with your controller in Mech Arena, please get in touch with support. Remember to attach screenshots of the issue and include a detailed description of the problem. It will help to find the solution.
