How do I enable and activate two-factor authentication?
Two-factor authentication ensures one more level of security for your Plarium account. With two-factor authentication enabled, every time you log in, you'll need to authenticate the login using a special code we'll send to a second location - either an email address or a mobile device. We highly recommend you enable this extra step of security.
Note: Two-factor authentication is available starting from version 6.4.0 of Plarium Play. After you enable two-factor authentication on any device, you can no longer log in to devices using an older version of the platform.
To enable and activate two-factor authentication, do the following:
1. Make sure that your email address is confirmed. You can read how to do so here.
2. Open "Settings" on the sidebar.
3. Go to the "Security" tab.
4. Click the "Enable two-factor authentication" button.
5. Enter your current password when requested.
6. A window will pop up, asking for your preferred method of authentication. Pick one (either email or the Google Authenticator phone app) and follow the instructions the window provides.
Google Authenticator is one of the most secure ways to protect Plarium accounts.
If you opt for Google Authenticator:
1. Choose Google Authenticator and click "Next".
2. Scan the QR code using the Google Authenticator app on your mobile device.
3. Enter the code provided by the app.
If you can't scan the code, find the alphabetic code provided in a popup window and enter it on your mobile device.
4. Click "Continue".
5. Save backup codes* provided in the next window and click "Complete".
*For security reasons, it's better to print these backup codes instead of saving them on your computer or taking a screenshot of them.
6. In the final step, click "Log Out." When you log back in, two-factor authentication will be already active.
If you opt for email authentication:
1. Choose "Email address" and click "Next".
2. Check your email Inbox (or the Spam folder if necessary) and find the authentication code sent to you.
3. Enter the code in the respective field.
4. Click "Continue".
5. Save backup codes* provided in the next window and click "Complete".
*For security reasons, it's better to print these backup codes instead of saving them on your computer or taking a screenshot of them.
6. In the final step, click "Log Out". When you log back in, two-factor authentication will be already active.
If you use several Plarium Play accounts, you will have to enable two-factor authentication for each account separately.
